It’s no secret that I love being outside, so hiking is a perfect form of exercise for me. There are so many different types of trails to explore – many right in my own local area! I’ve done little exploratory hikes that take me in and out of ravines, hiked up a fire road near my house that’s great for running, and one of my favourites is a mountain hike in Malibu. Valentine’s Day has always been a special day for my family as it’s my parents’ anniversary. When I was younger, my brothers and I would wake up to fun gift baskets filled with token items such as heart paperweights and books about love. But more importantly, we would always have a group discussion about how we feel loved and cherished – the day was a celebration of love. World Peace Meditation Day was held for the first time on December 31, 1986. That first year, more than 500 million people of all religions in more than 70 countries meditated for an hour starting at noon Greenwich Mean Time. The idea behind this movement was that meditating on peace would create peace. I find it especially fitting that World Peace Meditation Day is observed on the last day of the calendar year.
