Halloween brings many fun traditions to our house. We always visit the pumpkin patch three days before Halloween, and each family member gets one pumpkin to carve the night before Halloween. The boys love snacking on roasted pumpkin seeds around Halloween, so they salt and bake the seeds instead of throwing them away.
Some other of our favourite Halloween treats include popcorn and home-made Jello cups with fresh fruit in the bottom. We also decorate our house, filling our yard with little headstones and talking skeletons. The showpiece is a huge spider web with a giant spider right in the middle!
For trick or treat, we like to dress our three boys in the same theme. Last year, they were the Harlem Globetrotters, and the year before that, they dressed up as KISS! We still haven’t figured out this year’s costumes yet, but we will go trick or treating in the same neighbourhood that we always do with the same group of families and friends. Each year, we take the same Halloween picture in front of the same fireplace, and it’s so much fun to go back and see how much the kids have grown year by year.
What’s your favourite Halloween tradition? Wishing you all a Happy Halloween!
